LINDSAY AND TONY - SILCHESTER HOUSE

In May 2009 I had the pleasure of designing Lindsay and Tony’s floral scheme. They were so much fun to work with and wanted to create a beautiful backdrop incorporating two of my favourite flowers - peonies and phalaenopsis orchids. The bridesmaids wore stunning metallic mink dresses and I predict metallic colours will continue to be very fashionable over the coming year. Lindsay’s bouquet is one of my favourites to make, incredibly intricate with each orchid being individually wired to provide a lovely flowing movement as you walk down the aisle. This style of bouquet works particularly well with the classic Jenny Packham look, A-line and bias cut dresses.

Lindsay loved the idea of using wooden letters to spell out their names and we made a unique and fantastic decoration for the fireplace and top table with flowers inter-twined through the letters.

From a florist’s perspective Silchester House is a great venue to design for. It has a stylish but muted interior so most colours work well in the house and the marquee. There is also plenty of opportunity to get maximum use from each arrangement as you can easily move flowers from ceremony to reception.
