Hello,

Hope  you have all had a fabulous summer. We have had a simply amazing time with so many beautiful weddings and parties, it feels like we haven't stopped since March and therefore sadly, I have been very bad at keeping my blog up to date. So I am sorry to be so rubbish but I promise things are definitely changing. We are soon to be launching our gorgeous new blog featuring many fabulous weddings, bouquets, fun ideas and insights into life as a florist. More news on that very soon!

As as much as I hate to be closing the door on Summer ( I am sitting writing this whilst it is lashing with rain outside) I am really excited about the Autumn season. We have got the most amazing line up of venues to decorate including a very glamorous scheme at Botleys Mansion, an enchanted forest at the Tithe Barn, Petersfield, a very stylish and sophisticated all white scheme at Silchester House and the biggest, sparkliest Christmas wedding in a double storey marquee.

If you are just beginning planning your flowers for your wedding for this year or next, then do get in touch, we are booking up fast and full to bursting with fabulous new ideas and accessories to tempt you with.

For now, have a great Bank Holiday weekend, please let it be sunny - I have a weekend off and plan to spend it with the 4 gorgeous men in my life! September is just around the corner and that means faded hydrangeas, seed heads, brambles and I am sure we will see the first tulips back in the market in 6 weeks time! Leaving you with a picture from my first photo shoot with Wedding Flowers Magazine - a dream come true for me.

So back in January we were thrilled to be asked to be the florists for the Wedding Ideas Awards Ceremony at the Brewery, close to the Barbican in London. With a pink and sparkly brief, it was certainly going to be fun to do but with 350 guests, including some really big names from the wedding industry - we felt quite nervous about it all.

We opted for a two level scheme of candleabra and pretty ribbon clad pots of tulips and amaryllis. Up at 5am, making our way to the venue was not the best beauty preperation a girl can have but we were all set up by 11am in time to make our way to the Andaz for a very quick change and back out for the cocktail reception at midday.

Sadly we didn't win the Best Florist category - -there's always next year. I did manage to get on stage though, asked to present 'The Best Wedding Planner' award, I was thrilled to announce that Jule Tooby had won for the third year running.

It was then time to party and let our hair down. We had so much fun and met lots of fabulous people along the way.

Congratulations to Prince William and Kate Middleton who today announced their engagement. They must be incredibly excited although a little bit taken aback with all of the important decisions that they now must make, just as any other newly engaged couple are.

I thought I would just provide a little speculation and perhaps some good advice for them both as they start to think about colour schemes and flowers. As it is likely to be a Spring/Summer wedding, it would be lovely to think that they could source all of their flowers from the UK and are amazing British growers.

Prince William and Kate adore being in Cornwall having spent a romantic weekend in Fowey last year as well as numerous family holidays for Kate. The couple are likely to become the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and what greater inspiration for their wedding flowers than to use the home grown hydrangeas and agapanthus that  adorn the hedgerows and beautiful gardens of Cornwall. Therefore we could be seeing a colour palette of subtle blues, sea greens and whites. Other flowers that would work so well within this scheme would be the cornflower – a favourite of Prince Charles’, scabious, delphiniums, stocks, peonies and roses.

I think we may just see an increase in the growing of hydrangeas and agapanthus in Cornwall in preparation for the celebrations next year.

Whilst we will probably see elements of traditional floral design in the decoration of their wedding, I hope that Kate’s flowers will also be inspired by her love of fashion – particularly her knowledge of accessories. Being the style icon that she is, we are expecting to have an endless string of brides wanting to emulate ‘What Kate did’. Therefore it would be great for the flowers to ooze elegance and romance but also exhibit a modern twist on stylish, luxurious wedding flowers.

Kate, do let me know if you need any further advice, I would love to be able to help!!
